What is an EORI number?

The identification number for everyone who deals with customs authorities in the EU.

Meaning

EORI stands for Economic Operators Registration and Identification. Customs authorities in all EU member states use the number to identify companies and persons that import, export or move goods in transit.

When do you need it?

  • For every customs declaration (import and export)
  • For transit procedures and temporary storage
  • When you apply for customs authorisations
  • As a carrier or forwarder lodging declarations or entry summary declarations

What does a Swedish number look like?

A Swedish EORI number consists of the country code SE followed by ten digits. Swedish companies receive a number based on their organisation number; for foreign applicants Swedish Customs assigns the digits.

Validity

The number is valid throughout the EU and is issued once. A company can only hold one EORI number. You can check any number in the EU register: https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/eos/eori_validation.jsp
